Every photograph of a property on this site is a photograph of that property. Where we have none, the listing shows no photograph rather than a stand-in.
Property images from Booking.com
Most property photographs come from the Booking.com property data this site is built on, supplied through the affiliate relationship declared in our affiliate disclosure. They show the property itself.
A number of the supplied image links no longer resolve, and a few listings use a logo card rather than a photograph. Both are rejected at build time, so a property either has a working photograph of itself or none at all.

Photographs we rejected
Not every picture offered for a property gets used. One supplied for Phantom Ranch showed a timber cabin among pines with a mown lawn: that is Phantom Canyon Resort in Cripple Creek, Colorado, a different business that happens to share a word in its name. Phantom Ranch sits on the canyon floor and is reached on foot, by mule or by raft. The file also carried a third party's copyright notice.
Earlier, two Wikimedia Commons files were rejected on the same grounds: one labelled as Maswik Lodge showed a different building, and one labelled as Phantom Ranch had no building in it at all.
That is the standard applied throughout: a picture that misleads about which building you would be sleeping in fails the same test as an invented review score.
Properties with no photograph
Every property with a page of its own now has a photograph of itself. Where that changes, the listing will show no image rather than a stand-in: we would rather have a gap than fill it with a picture of somewhere else.
Everything else on the site
Area and destination imagery, on location pages, guides and hub pages, is commissioned brand artwork showing the South Rim, Grand Canyon Village, Tusayan, Valle, Williams and Route 66. It illustrates places, never individual properties, and it is never used on a hotel card.
