Maswik is set back from the rim rather than on it, toward the western end of the village near where the corridor trail starts. The rim is a walk rather than a step outside.

For most visitors that is the sensible trade. You still sleep inside the park, you still skip the entrance station in the morning, and you are usually paying less and finding availability more easily than at the rim-side buildings.

Of the set-back lodges in the village, Maswik is the one at the trail end, near where the corridor trail drops below the rim. That is the difference worth knowing: the rim-side buildings put you on the edge, Maswik puts you at the start of the walk down.
